New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
Once again, even though I really don’t much like the term live-blog, that is what I find myself doing. Live blog is rolling after the jump.
OK, we’re ready to roll. I’ve got the new design pretty much dialed in, at least for now. Lots I still want to do with it, but it’ll have to wait until after the game. Refresh the page often.
First Quarter:
The talking heads have stopped jabbering, which means that real football must be coming soon. I haven’t seen any trucks yet, though, so we can’t be that close.
Here’s the theme song, so the trucks can’t be far away…
Hah, nice comparison of the Cowboys to the Dallas TV soap opera.
Romo of course had nothing useful to say.
The last NFC East game EVER to be played at Texas Stadium.
HOW DARE HE THROW THE BALL TO WITTEN. MOOOMMMMM!!! TONY’S NOT PLAYIN’ FAIR…
Should’ve gone to Witten.
YES! Ware just sacked Eli and forced a fumble.
Defense still looks strong, continuing last week’s trend.
Offense started slow, but the Cowboy’s best games have been those in which they couldn’t get anything going in the first quarter. As long as the defense holds, we’re in for a good game.
False start on Witten, that’s odd, it’s usually Flozell.
Hey, someone actually caught a ball.
Maybe Witten is actually the troublemaker on the team.
Paulescu looked like a soccer player after that punt. I’m not saying he was milking it or anything… ok, maybe he was milking it a bit.
Eli looks like somebody stuck their finger into his favorite jar of peanut butter.
That was a total BS pass interference call on Newman.
Orlando Scandrick was my favorite Cowboys 2008 draft pick.
That’s what I like about Romo. He screws up more than anybody I know, but 90% of the time he makes something out
of it. Sometimes, the results are spectacular.
There is my second favorite 2008 draft pick, Choice.
He is a rookie though, with all that comes with it.
There’s False Start Flo.
Oh, you mean receivers are supposed to catch long balls? Well that makes it a LOT easier!
I’m telling you, the games where Romo starts out slow are some of his best. Especially the week after a bad game.
Looks like Romo hurt his back on that sack. He took a knee to the lower back.
Here’s where we really ourselves. Penalties, especially false starts.
Second Quarter:
Oh great, now Romo may be out. We’re sunk if he’s out. Cofield put his knee in his lower back.
The Cowboys have better stats so far than the Giants. 3.6 yards per play vs. 1.8 yards per play. Romo’s 6 of 10, Eli’s 1 of 5. Also it looks like Romo is coming back in. We also have 61 net yards to the Giants 20.
The O-line really needs to stiffen up. Romo’s gonna get killed out there.
I was thinking, “He can just run for a first down, why the hell is he throwing?” What a beautiful play. But it may not count, we’ll see how the challenge comes out. Haven’t seen the replay yet.
It counted.
Will someone please tackle Kevin Boss. Sooner would be better.
Nnnnoooooooooooooooooo! Not Bradie James. Take Jenkins, instead.
OhyesthankyouthankyouBradieJamesisOK.
Yougoddabekiddinme.
Sorry, I got temporarily type-drunk there.
Ware is a sack-machine.
Looks like Manning is heating up. Romo’s gonna have to be on top of it to keep up. Even if it ended in a field goal, Eli drove a long way and chewed up a lot of clock.
Darn it people stop it with the penalties. Gurode now.
Witten! I saw T.O. jawing at Witten on the way off the field.
Eli got wrapped up like a burrito.
Choice just cuts through them like butter.
I think Romo’s punch-drunk.
I’ll put up some stats at halftime.
Halftime Stats:
Net Yards: Cowboys 147, Giants 78
Passing: Romo 12 of 18, Eli 7 of 14
Time of Possession: Cowboys 15:26, Giants 14:34
Penalties: Cowboys 6 for 62, Giants 5 for 30
Third Quarter:
Penalties. These guys need more discipline.
Newman with the interception. That’s something we haven’t done nearly enough of this year.
Romo’s been a bit off with his passes since the pinkie finger broke. I don’t doubt the back is affecting him too, but he was inaccurate the last couple of weeks since he got back.
Finally a false start penalty on the Giants.
Manning’s pissed off about the interception. He’s gonna try to make us pay.
OK, I’ll admit, I haven’t been paying attention. I’ve been tweaking the formatting. It just wasn’t very readable the other way. I’m trying this out.
Oh, yeah, much better.
Oh here we go with the prima donna Witten again.
Has T.O. really lost a step? It kind of seems like it. He’s got the dropsies, he slips and slides, and he doesn’t fight for yardage as much.
7th Cowboys sack of the night. The defense has gotten better every game since Wade Phillips took over.
A long 23 yard catch by Austin. The boys are moving it down the field now. Bennett just got 9 yards.
Another nice pickup by Choice. 22 yards.
Witten just threw Pierce off like dirty laundry. First and goal!
Fourth Quarter:
I can’t tell if Romo is overthrowing or if T.O. is giving up.
Safety! Dammit.
Dixon looked just like he did last week. That was lucky for us, though.
All the Cowboys need to do now is bleed time off the clock. They’ve got this one wrapped up. They just need to not turn the ball over and make a couple of first downs.
Choice is my new favorite Cowboy!

Hey, we’re doing you a favor trying to beat these Giants. We’re softening them up for you. We’re also setting up the most exciting game of the season and making it more likely that YOU get home field through the playoffs.
