Ravens at Cowboys
Saturday’s game at Texas Stadium is a a big game for both the Ravens and the Cowboys. The winner will be one step closer to a wildcard berth in the postseason, and the loser can warm up the TV, since that’s the only way they’re seeing the playoffs. These two teams have a lot in common. Both are 9 and 5 and second in their respective divisions behind 11 and three division leaders. The difference is that Dallas has the Philadelphia Eagles breathing down thier necks a half game behind with a head-to-head showdown next week, the last week of the regular season. Behind the Ravens? The 4-10 Browns.
The key to this game for the Dallas Cowboys is defense. The same defense that has played well in the last few weeks needs to play lights-out football this weekend. Demarcus Ware needs to try to break the single season sack record tonight. That means 4 sacks tonight. I think he can do it, but it’ll be an uphill battle against the Ravens offensive line. The Dallas offense will have its hands full with the second ranked Ravens defense, but you can expect Romo to find some ways to get points out of it. We know that the Dallas offense is better than the Baltimore offense, notwithstanding some impressive performances by rookie QB Joe Flacco. If the Dallas defense can play to the level of the Baltimore defense, as they have been doing the past few weeks, the Cowboys should have things well in hand.
There is also the added impetus that this will be the final regular season game, and most likely the last pro football game ever played at Dallas’ Texas Stadium. Next year the Cowboys will move into their brand new billion dollar digs.
